Food safety is all about preventing the growth and spread of bacteria. Whether you are a home cook or a professional, cooking food safely is fundamentally important.

 

Bacteria are microscopic - they are invisable to the naked eye. They are found almost anywhere where the conditions are right. Most need warmth, food, moisture, time and a neutral pH, although some can survive extremes.

 

When handling food, it is important that the person and enviroment are hygienic and food is stored, prepared, cooked and served safely.
